SPUR (23’)

Our smoked cider made with early season apples. As fans of smoked beverages like rauchbier, grodziskie, mezcal, and peated whiskeys – we wanted to create something that brings these same flavors to cider. We took Paula Red, Lodi, William’s Pride, and Yellow Transparent apples and smoked them in our smoker using applewood. Then fermented them spontaneously until finally blending them with some Winesap cider for balance. The combo tastes like cinnamon apple sauce, dried pears, and finishes smokey.

Our newest creation is inspired by our love of wispy smoked drinks and a goal to support orchards more holistically. We wanted to find ways to utilize early season apples, that tend to be tart, sweet, & spicy but also sometimes lack robust tannins. Luckily, we found these flavors pair seamlessly with smoke. By purchasing these apples, that tend to not be as popular, we are finding ways to support orchards outside of the classic tannin forward cider fruit and throughout the entire harvest.
